The Existentialist Group

"And I asked myself about the present: how wide it was, how deep it was, how much was mine to keep."
-Kurt Vonnegut

This group is a space to process existential concerns. Maybe you lie awake at night contemplating your own mortality.  Maybe you're driving to work one day and are struck by the familiar thought that nothing really means anything... Maybe you feel ultimately alone, no matter how full your calendar is. However you got here, if you can connect with existential themes, then this group is for you.

Topics we may address include: feeling lost | feeling behind | confronting the unknown | navigating uncertainty | death anxiety | identity exploration | meaning and purpose | religious abuse | grief | loss of faith or grand narrative | rumination about morality | knowledge of consciousness | the burden of choice | fear of aging | fear of loss of loved ones |  and the list goes on

Day/Time: Mondays 6pm-7:30pm

Location: This group meets once a week via Zoom for 90-minute sessions

Eligibility: All members must be in Texas or New Mexico and attend a free 30-minute pre-group consultation

Diversity: I am committed to providing a supportive space to all group members regardless of their various intersectional identities. I ask that all group members address our differences with respect and curiosity. There are instances in which you, other group members, or myself may be challenged to address our preconceived views of people and the world. It is my belief that this is crucial to the group therapy process.

Cost: $200/month. This cost includes four or five 90-minute sessions per month and reserves your spot in the group.

Size: The number of group members will vary over time with a maximum of 8 people at once.

Length of Group: This is an open group which will continue indefinitely as long as there are 3 or more active members. New members will be accepted whenever total membership falls below 8. There is no rule to determine how long our time together will last. My clients end therapy on their own terms when they feel confident that they are ready to move on.

How to start: All of my therapy services begin with a free, 30-minute consultation. Scheduling a pre-group consultation is not a commitment to join the group. To schedule a consult, you can email me at KayliaCounseling@gmail.com or fill out the contact form below.
